How Kitchen and Wardrobe Installers Can Prepare a Clear Handover Record
Create a practical kitchen or wardrobe handover record covering agreed scope, visible completion, outstanding items, product information and customer acknowledgement.
Start from the agreed installation scope
Identify the project, design version and items the installer was engaged to fit. Record approved changes separately from the original scope.
Do not use a handover note to imply responsibility for products, services or design decisions outside the installer’s verified role.
Walk through visible completion
Review doors, drawers, panels, worktops, trims, internal fittings and relevant interfaces with the customer or authorised representative. Keep observations factual.
A visual walkthrough does not replace specialist testing, certification or manufacturer procedures where those are required.
List outstanding work clearly
Give each outstanding item a location, description, responsible party and proposed next action. Distinguish defects, access limitations, delayed products and customer-requested changes.
Do not mark incomplete work as complete merely because a return visit is expected.
Provide the relevant product information
Hand over available care information, warranties, product references and operating instructions supplied for the installed items.
Avoid inventing maintenance advice or extending a manufacturer’s warranty. Refer technical questions to the responsible supplier or qualified professional.
Record specialist sign-off separately
Keep electrical, gas, plumbing, structural or other regulated work and certification attributable to the appropriately qualified person or organisation.
An installer directory profile or verification status is not a substitute for trade-specific competence, insurance or approvals required for the job.
Close with acknowledgement, not pressure
Let the customer record comments and acknowledge receipt of the handover information. Keep dated copies and follow applicable privacy and record-retention requirements.
Measure Design can support the design-to-installation journey, directory visibility and project communication, but it does not guarantee jobs, leads, orders or revenue.
