A Kitchen Installer’s Site-Readiness Checklist Before Fitting Day

Prepare a kitchen installation handover covering delivery, access, verified drawings, trade responsibilities and unresolved site work.

Agree the installation scope before the visit

Begin with the approved quotation, current technical drawings and written scope. Identify which business is responsible for removing the old kitchen, preparing walls and floors, installing cabinets, fitting worktops and connecting appliances. A visual concept alone is not an installation instruction.

Record exclusions explicitly. If a customer believes flooring is included but the installer has allowed only for cabinetry, the disagreement should be resolved before materials arrive. Use a named contact for questions and keep the agreed version with the project record.

Check access and delivery as separate tasks

Review parking arrangements, unloading space, doorway and stair access, and where cabinets can be stored without blocking movement. Confirm the delivery date directly with the supplier; an expected arrival is not evidence that everything has arrived.

Ask for a delivery inventory and record damaged, missing or incorrect items before fitting. Keep photographs connected to product labels and the order reference. Do not discard packaging or accept substitutions without the appropriate agreement.

Review the latest surveyed drawings

Check that the installer has the drawing revision approved for manufacture, not an older concept. Confirm orientation, cabinet references, finished floor assumptions and the positions of services with the responsible professionals.

Stop and escalate a mismatch between the site and drawing. Cutting a cabinet to solve an unreviewed discrepancy can affect adjoining work, warranty conditions or safety. AI visualisation cannot certify dimensions or construction.

Confirm readiness with the responsible trades

Ask whether preparatory electrical, plumbing, plastering and flooring work is complete to the agreed stage. Record who confirms each item and what remains outstanding. Required testing and approvals belong to appropriately qualified people.

Do not treat a customer photograph as evidence that a service is safe to connect. Mark any dependency that prevents installation and agree how the programme will change.

Protect the property and define the handover

Agree protection for floors and circulation routes, waste arrangements, working hours and who may access the area. Include pets, children and household accessibility needs in the practical plan.

At completion, keep a snag list with location, action, owner and review date. Provide the relevant care and product information, and distinguish completed cabinetry from specialist connections or testing still awaiting another trade.

Join with an accurate professional profile

Measure Design’s installer application collects professional details for team review before approval and platform visibility. Onboarding is currently free to join, subject to the latest terms checked for this article; it is not a promise of permanent free access or guaranteed jobs.

Use the installer onboarding page to describe actual experience and coverage. Project enquiries are a starting point for verification and agreement, not an accepted installation contract.

Frequently asked questions
